Privacy Policy

Effective August 7, 2026

SubSub is designed to help you track recurring subscriptions while keeping your personal subscription data on your device. This policy explains what information the SubSub iOS app and this website handle.

1. Information you add to SubSub

When you use the app, you may enter subscription names, prices, currencies, billing dates and intervals, notes, reminder preferences, selected logos, active or archived status, and charge history. This information is stored locally on your device using Apple's on-device storage technologies.

2. Notifications and widgets

If you enable reminders, SubSub asks iOS for notification permission and schedules renewal notifications locally on your device. The home-screen widget receives a limited snapshot through an Apple App Group so it can show upcoming charges and totals. This information remains within the app's local container on your device.

3. Purchases

Premium purchases and subscriptions are processed by Apple through StoreKit and the App Store. Apple may process payment, account, and transaction information under Apple's own privacy policy. SubSub reads verified entitlement information needed to unlock premium features, such as the product purchased and its current status. The developer does not receive your full payment card details.

4. Anonymous first-launch event

After the App is installed, SubSub sends a single anonymous first_open event to our server when the App is opened for the first time. The event does not include your name, email address, Apple Account, device identifier, advertising identifier, subscription list, notes, spending amounts, or notification data.

The server uses this signal only to update aggregate daily and total installation counters. SubSub does not create or retain an individual installation record or store an approximate location for this event.

If you delete and reinstall the App, the reinstall may be counted as a new first launch.

5. Data we do not collect

Other than the limited first-launch event described above, SubSub does not require an account, run advertising, include a third-party analytics SDK, or send your subscription list, notes, spending totals, or notification schedule to a developer-operated server.

6. Website data

This website does not provide public user accounts, forms, advertising, or behavioral analytics. The /api/install endpoint receives only the limited anonymous first-launch event described above. The hosting provider may process limited technical information such as IP address, request time, browser information, and security logs as necessary to deliver and protect the site.

7. Data retention and deletion

Your app data remains on your device until you edit or delete it, or uninstall the app. Deleting a subscription also deletes its related charge history from the app's local database. iOS device backups may retain app data according to your Apple backup settings.

8. Children's privacy

SubSub is a general-audience utility and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children through a developer-operated service.

9. Security

SubSub relies on Apple's platform protections and app sandboxing for locally stored data. No method of storage is completely secure, so you should protect access to your device and Apple Account.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when SubSub's features or legal obligations change. The effective date above will be updated when a revised policy is published.
